Abstract:
Up until 2003, India was considered as a laggard in attracting global electronics equipment manufacturers to set up their base in the country. However, since 2004 the situation was fast changing with the entry of several manufacturers. Many industry experts attributed this change to the competitive advantages enjoyed by the country. But critics discounted the prospects of India developing into a huge base for electronics equipment manufacturers, owing to the competitive pressures it faced.
